This was our first time chartering through Sunsail (now operating under The Moorings). We had a 454 catamaran sailboat. Our group consisted of 7 including our own Captain and co-captain. It was an older boat, but still very suitable for our group. The check in process could have been more thorough and there was only the online manual available, so Wi-Fi was pretty essential. One of the mooring ropes was badly frayed (not good), so we switched out with a better spare. Before we got too far out we had an issue with one of the heads. Sunsail came out the next morning and repaired it. We went over some of the other questions that should have been covered during check-in and we were in our way. The other issue we had was with the desalination system. It wasn’t filling up very fast, but after we changed the filters, it worked fine.
All in all we had some terrific sailing and the boat served us well. I would suggest Sunsail do a thorough assessment of all the doors and hinges in the galley. Several needed tightening or minor repairs. The check-in process could also be more thorough in order to cover the operation of the refrigeration units and the oven/stove.
The Customer Service Rep Rochelle, was great during our final checkout.

We enjoyed our 7 day Sunsail charter in he BVI. Our 454L was comfortable, clean and well-equipped, if a bit basic. Loved our captain, Inga! She was terrific, capable and super knowledgable. The gorgeous BVI and our skipper were the best things about the trip. Only technical issue was with the dinghy which would not start and left us stranded for a bit at Cooper Island. Would give Sunsail/Moorings 5 stars except that our original captain was a no-show which delayed us in going out and resulted in a partial refund. Customer Service was very good. I've done it before and will do it again!

I will never ever book with Sunsail again as the put us at risk with a boat that should have never been leased to anyone. Half our trip was wasted waiting on maintenance to come address all the issues. We had to listen to the generator running for hours.
Batteries had to be fixed and then fully replaced. Long list of problems...
Broken water maker
Broken fridge
Broken toilet valve
Broken shower drain valve
Broken gas gauge
No A/C
The most dangerous position we were in was they sent us out in high swells with a broken gas gauge but didn't tell us. What if we had run out of gas and needed to motor out of danger. Sunsail knowingly put us at risk.

We had a great time during our winter break sailing with Sunsail. Our captain Libert was excellent and he fit in all the best destinations in our consolidated 6 day sailing trip. The 424 Leapord was not perfect but overall good condition it was only a few years old (everything worked on the boat). My family of five had a wonderful experience. Be aware you need to be a fairly strong swimmer if you’re going to snorkel many of best spots in the BVI the currents can be a bit strong in certain areas.
